Chief Executive Officer and Cofounder
David Stubenvoll is a streaming-industry veteran, launching Wowza Media Systems with Charlie Good to fill a stark void in the industry: the lack of flexible, simplified media server software on which to build reliable streaming. Wowza is Dave’s fifth new business venture, having previously served as entrepreneur in residence at Adobe Systems and as CEO/cofounder of Freeworks. Dave has also held senior positions at Intuit and served as president of GALT Technologies (an Intuit subsidiary). Dave holds two patents and concurrently earned a JD from Boston College Law School and an MBA from the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University.
Chief Technology Officer and Cofounder
Charlie Good is a streaming-industry visionary and an accomplished software architect with more than 25 years of experience in software-product conceptualization, design, and implementation in the education, consumer, business imaging and graphics, and computer-aided-design industries. He cofounded Wowza Media Systems with David Stubenvoll to provide a disruptive product that would fill the gaps in the streaming server market and deliver a streaming server solution that was accessible yet flexible to fill a wide range of needs. Prior to his work at Wowza, Charlie successfully architected and built products for Digital Equipment Corporation, Structural Dynamics Research Corporation, Claris, several small start-ups, and Adobe Systems, where he spent eight years as director of engineering. He earned a BSEE from University of Cincinnati.
Chief Financial Officer
An experienced finance executive, Gerald Hatley has spent his entire career in the high-tech hardware, software, and energy industries, where he helped lead an IPO and multiple acquisition and financing transactions. Prior to his role as chief financial officer at Wowza Media Systems, Gerald served as the vice president and controller for two publicly traded companies, Sirenza Microdevices and Dot Hill Systems, and in other financial capacities at Level 3 Communications and a start-up energy company. He also spent more than five years in the San Jose office of Ernst & Young LLP, most recently as an audit manager, where he was a certified public accountant. He has an MBA from the University of Colorado and a BS in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Vice President and Chief Architect
Scott Kellicker is an expert systems architect and software developer specializing in audio and video streaming, Java, and Eclipse/RCP. He has more than 25 years of experience designing and implementing software for interactive television, integrated development environments, imaging, and computer-aided design. Prior to his work at Wowza Media Systems, Scott developed products at TVWorks, Research Systems, Hitachi Software America, and Structural Dynamics Research Corporation after earning a BSEE from the University of Cincinnati.
Vice President of Engineering
An agile software engineering expert, Barry Owen is vice president of engineering at Wowza Media Systems, where he is responsible for the development and testing of all Wowza products. With more than 25 years’ experience in software product development, Barry has a passion for developing innovative technology solutions to improve the customer experience. Having led cross-functional teams in engineering, product management, quality assurance, network operations, and security, Barry has held senior management positions at several venture-backed start-ups, including nearly 10 years as founder and CTO of Red Dog Software. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade as director of engineering at Adobe Systems, where he developed award-winning commercial software applications, including Aldus IntelliDraw and Adobe PhotoDeluxe. Barry holds a BS in computer science from Colorado State University.
Vice President of User Experience
An expert in product and user-experience design, Mike Talvensaari has more than 20 years of experience in developing engaging, intuitive interfaces for some of the leading media products in the industry. As director of product management and user experience at Zazzle.com, Mike oversaw the web-based retail experience, seller community, and online product-design tools for Zazzle’s unique print-on-demand consumer-goods customization platform. Prior to his work at Zazzle, Mike led Creative Suite user experience and managed e-commerce and web application development during a 10-year tenure at Adobe. He earned a BS in cognitive science from University of California, San Diego, and an MS in human factors and ergonomics from San Jose State University.
As General Counsel for Wowza Media Systems, Elliot Miller is responsible for the company’s global legal affairs. In addition to leading the company’s intellectual property protection programs and other legal initiatives, Elliot has significant responsibilities related to Wowza’s business development and channel partner efforts. Elliot has nearly a decade of experience providing in-house legal advice to companies in the software and services industries. Prior to Wowza, he was Director, Legal Affairs at Pendum, LLC. Elliot was also previously an attorney at Policy Studies, Inc. where he supported custom software development and business process outsourcing groups. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in international business from George Washington University. Elliot served on the Association of Corporate Counsel's Colorado Chapter board of directors for six years.
