Wowza Media Server 2 Wins STAR Award From Editors of TV Technology Europe at IBC 2010
EVERGREEN, CO., September 29, 2010—Wowza Media Systems®, is the recipient of a 2010 STAR Award for superior technology given by the staff of TV Technology Europe magazine at the recently concluded IBC 2010. The STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. TV Technology Europe's editors reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then chose 25 winners.
“The editors of TV Technology Europe magazine have a broad perspective when it comes to spotting needs, innovation, and trends,” said Alex Dobrushin, Wowza Media Systems chief marketing officer. “We are flattered that they have acknowledged Wowza Media Server 2 as a product that is at once useful and unique, and that has enjoyed unprecedented success in its relatively short history. We sincerely appreciate this recognition.”
Wowza Media Server 2 is a high-performance media engine that unifies delivery of live and on-demand H.264 video or AAC/MP3 audio streams to multiple clients and devices, eliminating the need for specialized, client-specific servers and encoders. It extends the reach of content to any platform and any screen, encompassing Flash®, Silverlight®, QuickTime®, and IPTV set-top boxes, as well as the world's leading video-friendly mobile devices like Android™ and Blackberry® phones, and Apple® iPhone® and iPad™.
“Today’s viewers want media available anywhere anytime, and naturally content providers are eager to oblige them,” said Mark Hallinger, editor of TV Technology Europe. “The problem has been that the infrastructure required was unwieldy and expensive. By dramatically simplifying cross-platform video delivery, Wowza Media Server 2 enables many more providers to meet viewer demand and to do so cost-effectively. It’s an outstanding example of the kind of innovative technology STAR awards were intended to spotlight.”
