Wowza Secures Media Server Leadership Position With 2 Streaming Media European Readers Choice Awards

EVERGREEN, CO., November 14, 2010—Wowza Media Systems®, the media server software company, today announced that its Wowza Media Server® 2 has won two top European Readers' Choice Awards from Streaming Media magazine. For the third year in a row, the company's unified media server was voted the best streaming server software/hardware, and it was awarded the best innovation honors for the second year running. As in prior years, Wowza’s media server software bested products from larger name-brand companies in the industry.

“This recognition is a reaffirmation of Wowza's market leadership position by the people who matter: our users and the industry experts who are the readers of Streaming Media magazine,” said Dave Stubenvoll, Wowza CEO and co-founder. “The fact that they declared Wowza Media Server their top server choice three years in a row is a testament to our commitment to delivering a product with exceptional performance, scalability, extensibility, support, and an unbeatable economic value.”

The Best Server Software award means European Streaming Media readers found the Wowza Media Server to be the top solution for delivering audio and video over the Web. The Best Streaming Innovation of 2010 win acknowledges Wowza Media Server 2 as the technology that has most profoundly changed the streaming media landscape in the last year.

“The finalists in the 2010 Streaming Media European Readers' Choice Awards are a real who’s-who of the online media industry, both in terms of established players and up-and-comers,” said Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen, editor of Streaming Media magazine. “What's most significant about these awards is that they're the only ones voted on by the people who actually use these technologies and services every day. The fact that more than 3,400 voters cast more than 12,700 votes – meaning that, on average, each voter cast a vote in 3 or 4 categories – is a testament to the impact that these companies and their products have had on the lives and work of their customers.”

The 2010 Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice awards were announced today at the 2010 Streaming Media Europe show in London. Previously, Wowza Media Server has twice been named the No. 1 media server in Streaming Media magazine’s U.S. Readers’ Choice competition, in 2008 and 2009, as well as the best innovation of 2009.
