As always, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week gave us a look ahead at many exciting new products. While Carlos Perez and I were there, we explored the show floor to find innovative technologies that could impact streaming media this year. From all that we saw, five technology trends stood out to us as ones that will make it easier to capture, deliver, or experience streaming media in 2014.

Wowza Media Systems research results of a study that explores the “second screen” behaviors of 500 television viewers. Fifty percent of those surveyed were in the highly desirable 23 to 39 age group that possesses a considerable amount of purchasing power.

Surprisingly, forty percent of respondents have engaged with a TV show’s second screen app, showing the power of engagement with second screen content since these apps are relatively small in number.
