How to stream to Wowza Streaming Cloud

With the Stream Targets feature in Wowza Streaming Engine™ live streaming software there are three ways that you can send streams to the Wowza Streaming Cloud™ service.

  1. Wowza Streaming Engine software (version 4.2 and later) has a stream target option that enables you to easily send a live stream from a Wowza Streaming Engine instance to Wowza Streaming Cloud, which transcodes and delivers the stream to viewers. For more information, see How to send a live stream to Wowza Streaming Cloud for transcoding.
  2. Using Wowza Streaming Engine (version 4.3 and later), you can use Wowza Streaming Cloud like a CDN. This workflow doesn't use the Wowza Streaming Cloud transcoder; instead, you can perform the transcoding in a Wowza Streaming Engine instance to take advantage of media servers with high bandwidth availability and hardware performance. This workflow enables you to send a single, untranscoded stream or a group of transcoded renditions to Wowza Streaming Cloud CDN endpoints and use the Wowza Streaming Cloud edge network to deliver the stream to viewers. For more information, see How to scale Wowza Streaming Engine with Wowza Streaming Cloud CDN delivery.
  3. Finally, with Wowza Streaming Engine (version 4.4.1 or later), you can use Wowza Streaming Cloud like a CDN to deliver Apple HLS streams over SSL. For more information, see How to send a stream from Wowza Streaming Engine to a Wowza Streaming Cloud HLS target.
Note: All of these workflows require a Wowza Streaming Engine license and a Wowza Streaming Cloud subscription.
